When Vinny tells Lisa about telling the judge his legal name was Jerry Gallo, he says this is because Jerry Gallo has a lot of notoriety as a lawyer. Lisa mentions his name was in the papers the previous week and Vinny acknowledges he saw this. She then mentions he didn't read the articles and that the real Gallo died. There is no way Vinny didn't know this as the headline to any such articles would be that Gallo died.
