Aang, Katara, and Sokka continually travel through Fire Nation villages wearing Air Nation and Water Tribe clothes, but it only becomes a problem suddenly in Book 3's The Headband. No one notices the trio isn't Fire Nation in Book 1's The Deserter despite being the only ones not wearing Fire Nation clothing.
