As Merritt puts the wife to sleep, the first shot shows a woman visible in the background leaning against one of the columns then takes a step forward to talk to someone sitting. In the next shot from further away, the woman in the background is no where to be seen, then when the camera goes back to Merritt and the couple, the woman is there again. The further away shot had nothing with the camera angles.
