When Mia is struck in the head with a hammer by Mr. Gale, her face is shown closeup as if she is lying on her sight side. Blood runs downward (across) her forehead because she is on her die. In the next shot of her, she is on her back with her head turned to the right and the blood is running down her face toward her neck.
