During the montage of launch failures, there are several instances of launches that either do not belong to the manned space flight programs, or not in that time frame. For instance we see a Titan rocket, which was not used until the Gemini program. The montage ends with a shot of a Mercury-Atlas rocket ostensibly refusing to take off and then releasing the chutes with humorous "pop" . That really did happen, but that was the Mercury-Redstone 1 launch failure; no Mercury-Atlas launches were left on the launch pad.
