During the ambush of the German halftrack right before the squad meets Private Ryan, two soldiers from Miller's squad can be seen from the rear firing their M1 rifles. One soldier has a Ranger patch on his left shoulder and the other is wearing a 2nd Ranger Battalion helmet. At this point, the only two soldiers left with M1 rifles are Upham and Mellish, and Mellish is the only Ranger. Upham should have a 29th Infantry DIvision patch and helmet.
