Calpurnia and Antony discuss the rumor that Caesar has married Cleopatra in an "Egyptian religion" ceremony. Caesar never acknowledged a relationship with Cleopatra, and a "marriage" to her would not have been tolerated by Rome. Additionally, Caesar had already married Cleopatra to her younger brother Ptolemy XIV to secure her reign. Ironically, the married Anothy did later marry Cleopatra in an Egyptian ritual.
