McCall states that it only takes "5 pounds of pressure" to pull a trigger. Pressure is measured in force/area, not force. The statement should have been either "5 pounds of force" or "5 pounds per square inch (psi) of pressure. However, trigger pull is traditionally measured in pounds. The tester literally fastens a hook end to the trigger and pulls the gauge backwards until the trigger releases. Also the average pull on an unmodified 1911 is 5.1 to 5.4 pounds, so "five pounds" is close enough.
