When Brody first spots the drift wood , it's in the shallow water near the shore and there's no possible way for a body to be attached to it without being noticed right away , but in the next shot it's in deeper water and you can very clearly see that there is still nothing attached to it , and there is still nothing on , in or near it when he reaches out to grab it .
