The events of US war mobilization were effectively shown with a visit to a 1917 movie theater for a three minute segment of silent Fox newsreels of the time. However, the movies were shown sped up because they were edited into a 1944 sound film projected at 24 frames per second instead of the silent film speed of 18 frames per second. During the silent era, films were projected and viewed by audiences at normal and not fast motion.
