It took Superman three years in a rocket to get to Earth from Krypton, and yet, he apparently never had to use the bathroom, nor eat. On top of that, he seemed to be protected from the dangerous exposures to space, yet he does not get his powers until he is within distance of a yellow sun, such as Earth's.
