The movie is supposed to take place after Milosevic was overthrown in 2000. at one point in the movie Sophia says that the assassination of Valstoria would prompt the Serbian government to denounce the assassination as a result of a 'UN atrocity'. However, Serbia was readmitted into the UN after Milosevic was overthrown. Serbia, which was the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia at the time, was suspended from the UN because of it's support for Serb rebels in the neighboring nations of Croatia and Bosnia, where civil wars occurred in the first half of the 1990's.
