As Paul searches through Dr. Mathewson glove box, he finds a stack of ID's. One of the ID cards is for Medatomics, where Dr. Mathewson currently works. Since Paul was able to use this card to gain access to the facility, this is the card Dr. Mathewson would need to use every day.
It seems disingenuous that he would keep a card he needs every day in an envelope with old ID cards, locked in the glove box.
