The film establishes early on that the blanks can regenerate and repair themselves after being damaged. When Andy realizes that Oliver has been replaced by an android, he smashes the upper part of Oliver's head; when the android Oliver reappears in the climactic scene where the survivors meet The Network, he has repaired himself. In the "post-apocalyptic" epilogue, the robot Oliver has somehow gone back to having the upper part of his head smashed and an entire scene is built around this. However, during the world's end explosion scene, a piece of debris can be seen falling on robot Oliver's head, smashing it once more.
