(at around 1h 30 mins) It is much safer to place CGI gunshot fire plumes at the end of the barrel, than worry about the dangers from blank shells. It is evident as we see Johnny shooting Blackheart. Johnny is walking and shooting and the barrel of the gun is bouncing. In one particular shot the fire plume peeks out of the barrel as it has bounced upward, yet completes its propulsion as it lowers to a level firing position. The speed at which an explosion exits a barrel, makes it impossible to begin a shot at one angle and finish it at another.
