(at around 1h 55 mins) When the Spaniard stomps on the silver chalices, it creates broken gaps from where the cups' walls meet their silver rims. Later, when Angelica takes a sip from a chalice, you can clearly see she drinks from a section that is broken. Any liquid in the cup would pour out of the gap before it reached her lips.
