(at around 21 mins) When the large ships hover over a city, they cast a shadow of a certain darkness. However, these ships are 15 miles wide and so low that what should happen is that the shadow gets darker and darker and darker as the ship continues to move over the fixed viewpoint. The shadow in the film does not.
