(at around 1 min) In the opening scene, we see the Camerlengo destroying the ring of the recently deceased Pope. In older days, this was done to avoid the possibility of using it to seal forged documents after the death of the Pope. However, the ritual of destroying the ring in front of the College of Cardinals has not been in practice since Pope John XXIII.
