A policeman has several fingers bitten off during the Gypsy camp raid, but is not killed. According to the film's logic, he, too, should have become a werewolf. Except that, the same policeman almost immediately has his head impaled on the werewolf's claws and it is later declared that all the townsfolk who were attacked at the gypsy camp had perished from their wounds - therefore the only remaining witnesses to the attack being gypsies.
