(at about 1:00:00 and 14:00 into the film) After Frankenstein has reached the finish line, a shot in the same scene clearly shows him using his right hand to lift himself up and out of the car, despite his navigator, Annie, having removed it just a couple of minutes before. This is because this is actually Annie posing as Frankenstein. This shot is a clue to Frankenstein's final ruse and, thus, it is not an error.
