When Mike's Fiance takes off the engagement ring, she lays it on the table. Mike picks it up but appears to put it down. Later it is shown that he has it on the Sub when Tug asks to buy it.. When the Fiance hears that Mike's sub has been sunk, she picks up the ring from the table and puts it on. When Mike arrives at the base safe and sound his fiance is wearing the ring and he is overjoyed. The ring is somehow able to travel from the shore to the sub and back at will.
