When Lisbeth is being grilled by her new social worker, he puts her on a strict budget as it doesn't seem to him that she is working that much, for instance he makes a stink that she is only sorting mail and making coffee on a very part-time basis. However, it is shown earlier in the movie that Lisbeth works as a highly respected private investigator in that same company. The subsequent extortion and then rape (by the social worker) only works in the whole plot because the movie portrays her as desperate for money and needing her allowance often, so it seems that this is an obvious inconsistency that the producers must be aware of but allow it to remain because the movie would only work if both sides of Lisbeth are experienced (and it does.)
