When Paul Edgecombe returns to the Block after Del's execution, 'Wild Bill' Wharton has destroyed his own bunk. Later, when the guards are preparing to drug Wharton, he is seen laying on a mattress on the floor of his cell. When the drugs take effect and he collapses, though, he falls onto an intact bunk.
