Throughout the movie, all of the characters including law enforcement characters refer to the recurring crimes as "robberies." The crimes are not robberies; they are "burglaries." To commit robbery, the criminal uses force or threat of force to compel the victim to give the robber the property or to allow the robber to take the property without resistance. In contrast, a burglary involves entering a business or dwelling with intent to commit a felony inside the premises. You can commit burglary when there is no one home; you cannot commit a "robbery" of a vacant building.
