When Bayou arrives in Hopewell County it is 1947 according to his narration. Later on, Leanne and her husband are watching the Howdy Doody Show. Now the Howdy Doody Show made its TV appearance on December 27, 1947 therefore it had to be the Christmas season when they were watching it. However, there is no appearance or indication of a Christmas Holiday season or even of a Winter season. Additionally, the time-line is confusing since later on when Ira and the brothers arrive in Chicago for an audition there is a poster advertising an upcoming show on February 9 therefore it had to be early 1947 or late 1947 to early 1948. Whatever the case it would have been the winter holiday season but all are in summer clothes.
