Col. Glen Whitacre wears a "garrison cap", whose visor is without embroidered golden leaves ("scrambled eggs"). In the U.S. Army, "field-grade" commanders (Maj., L/Col., Col.) and above, have golden leaves garnishing their cap visors. "Company-grade" commanders (2/Lt., 1/Lt., Cpt.,) have no such garnishment.. If it were part of the plot, Col. Whitacre could be charged with being "out-of-uniform".
