In Back to the Future, Marty asks Doc if the DeLorean runs on regular unleaded gasoline. Doc replies that it needs more kick hence for the need for plutonium. In this movie when the car ruptures the fuel line and all the gasoline leaks out, Doc tells Marty that Mr. Fusion was only to power the Flux Capacitor but the car itself runs on gasoline in order to run.
