(at around 1h 24 mins) When Hoffman is chained up in the bathroom, he attempts to reach the hacksaw, but Dr Gordon takes it out of his reach. In the top of the frame, you can clearly see a lot of slack in the chain, so Hoffman should have easily been able to jump forward and reach it.
