At about 2 hours and 38 minutes in, when Merry & Pippin have the Uruk-hai chase them so Frodo can run away, Booromir jumps in to stop one of the Uruk-hai from killing them. Sauruman told the Uruk-hai to bring the "halflings" to him alive and unspoiled. So the first Uruk-hai should not have tried to kill Merry & Pippen. Suddenly after Booromir is shot with a third arrow and falls on his back, another couple of Uruk-hai pick up Merry & Pippen and take them away like they were supposed to, instead of trying to kill them.
