A syzygy exact enough to block the light from Antares is an almost-unheard-of astronomical coincidence. Melancholia is also said to have been behind the sun (another syzygy) and having close fly-bys with several different planets. Each of these events separately, let alone together, is an astronomical near-impossibility, even before taking into account the collision with earth.
