Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa was not part of Julius Caesar's high command and did not accompany him to Egypt. He entered Roman military service as a quartermaster as part of Caesar's campaign in Spain against the last of the "Republicans". While there, Agrippa did meet a young contubernalis ("cadet") named Gaius Octavius (the future Augustus) and was first to call this young man "Caesar" after word reached the Army (which was about to embark for a war against the Kingdom of the Parthians, i.e., Persia) of Julius Caesar's assassination. Agrippa attached himself to "Octavian" ever after and did run the Battle of Actium, as depicted. So Agrippa could not have shared with Octavian any early impressions of Cleopatra, but both men did form the opinion that Cleopatra presented a clear and present danger to the Rome they both loved and the way it should be run.
