Both Kevin's plane and the plane his family are on seem to take off within seconds of each other. There is no way that that would have been allowed to happen. Once a plane takes off, the next plane would have to wait a couple of minutes before it can get airborne because it takes a few moments before a plane is several hundred feet in the air, and the air traffic controllers will only clear the next plane for takeoff once the previous plane is out of earshot to prevent a possible collision. And no matter where a plane is headed all planes take off in the same direction.
