The character of Doris Zander establishes her mother as the antagonist and the culprit for killing Debbie and Isabelle. When Laine frees her spirit it is revealed in a plot twist that she deceived them into releasing her evil spirit and that she was the antagonist the entire time. If this is the case then who killed Isabelle and Debbie if it was not her mother doing it? It couldn't have been Doris if her spirit was trapped.
