In exterior shots of the ship, a background of stars is seen drifting slowly by. In reality, because of their vast distance, their movement would be imperceptible unless the ship (and camera) were rotating or on a significantly curved course. (A trajectory to Jupiter would be curved, but not enough to impart apparent motion to the background.)
