In the scene when Oscar is shot (off-camera) by Mr. Clark, his employees Owen and Oliver are sitting in a lounge car and they hear the gunshot, but Lily is in the stateroom right next-door to Oscar's and does not hear anything and did not even know that he had been shot until Owen tells her.
