Scott Fischer actually spent the night near another climber, Gau Ming Ho, not alone as depicted in the film. Sherpas found both men alive, but believed Fischer beyond saving, and elected to rescue Gau. Gau was also brought down the mountain alongside Beck Weathers, and was the first to be evacuated by helicopter.
