The black SS dress uniform worn by Himmler during his last night in the SS cabin was not used by the SS during the Second World War. Himmler wore this black uniform at diplomatic and state functions up to 1938, but afterwards the SS had adopted a gray SS dress tunic worn with a silver belt and full medals. This second dress uniform Himmler in fact rarely wore, and spent the majority of World War II dressed in his standard gray SS office tunic, even at high level functions.
