In the "Disk Wars" scene where Sam fights Combatant 7 (round 2), he "de-reses" his opponent with one throw then slides/falls down one level, without retrieving his disk. However, his disk has magically reattached to his back even before he lets go to drop down, and keeps it on up to his final round with Rinzler. (So technically, he had two disk too, he just lost one...)
