When meeting Ben-Hur for the first time at Quintus' party Pontius Pilate refers to "Jehovah" in a joke about becoming the new governor of Judea. Allowing for the fact that the script would use a modern term for the Hebrew God to be recognizable to modern audiences, it still would not be something that a Roman politician would know anything about in the Hebrew religion of a remote frontier in the Roman empire.
