At the very end, Cody shouts to the sky as storage tank explodes underneath him. This reduces it to a flaming crater. However, if you look quickly at the "The End" panel that comes up once the refinery is engulfed in flames, you can see Cody stumbling and slumping over in the background. This would be as though he and the tank he was on top of were merely on fire and no explosion occurred before he died.
