During the barn fire scene, Garrett, standing on the floor, has his hands tied to a ladder rung above him and is holding onto the rung with both hands. Kevin has his hands tied together and the rope is clamped between the jaws of a bench vice. After starting to untie Kevin, Claire gets into a fight with Noah. In a subsequent shot of Kevin, he now has 10 or 12 inches of free play rope between his hands and the vice, plenty of slack to simply turn the handle of the vice, free the rope, and escape. Instead, he simply remains seated on the barn floor struggling with the rope by moving his hands back and forth, grunting, and pulling on the rope. Similarly, Garrett holds onto the rung as if he has nowhere to move, yet you can see there is sufficient slack in the rope to move his hands down and untie the knots. There is no reason for him to have to have his hands wrapped around the rung. He is obviously struggling with being tied up for effect, and not because he is immobile.
