Shot in Santa Clarita, CA but supposed to be in Abilene Kansas, the plains which is flat grassland. No scrub brush and no mountains, they get lazy for these shoots. If they wanted to stay in CA for costs at least use farmland/grassland in Ventura, Sacramento or central CA. Its just hard to watch when they say old west and most everything that was considered west at that time was the plains states and the southwest. At least Costner shot on location and Hickock died on South Dakota. Most of these old west types followed the cattle trails between TX and SD & Montana or gold/silver strikes in those areas. I get its not a documentary but there are shooting locations that are better than what they used.
