Toward the end of the day, Prendergast's fellow detectives surprise him with a retirement party featuring a stripper. In reality this would have to occur at a private place outside of the police station because many police departments have policies dictating the conduct of their officers on duty, and having a stripper as part of the festivities inside the police station could have subjected everyone who participated to disciplinary action.
