Perrier constantly talks of the danger of fingerprints contaminating the scene. Yet, when he removes the paper from the dead butler, he initially uses a handkerchief, then opens it barehanded, which would have left his own fingerprints.However, Perrier is a spoof of a detective and this is all played for laughs.
