The premise that Sir Roger was born a frog is based on the biogenic theory often summarised as 'ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny', which states that during development, embryos pass through stages that resemble the adult forms of the animal's evolutionary ancestors. By the mid-1950s the theory had been rejected (and even if true, would not explain the birth of a giant frog with a human brain).
