Deus ex machina is used in the first meeting with Nolan and i-R0k, who gives Nolan the Orb of Osuvox, which Nolan asked i-R0k to retrieve. Nolan would have no idea why he needed this orb at this point in the movie, yet at the end of the movie it is used to stop others from entering in to the castle on Planet Doom, where the Atari 2600 game console is located with the game Adventure, which is needed to gain the 3rd key.
