At the beginning of the movie, after the couple find the dead horse, their dog runs into the woods and is also killed. The couple go back into the house to hide and the abominable snowman comes onto their porch. When it leaves, they go out and see his footprints in the snow that they just ran through. But their footprints aren't seen.
