It might seem that if Alice had gone for Iracebeth directly instead of going for one of the two guys with the clock, she could have prevented Iracebeth's accident. But she couldn't, because, like Time said, the past cannot be changed. No matter what Alice would have done, Iracebeth would have still banged her head one way or another.
