Disconnecting a cooking gas line and attempting to ignite it with a magazine in a toaster does not produce an explosion that blows people off their feet. Unless the gas and air are precisely mixed, if there's too much air or too much gas, you just get a small "poof" and not an explosion. That is if the magazine even lights up in less than five minutes.
