Father Godwin wears a tunic that identifies him as a Franciscan friar; yet, St. Francis lived more than three centuries after Norse invasions to Northumbria, and Franciscans by that time were not yet existing. Moreover, the brown tunic was adopted by Franciscans several centuries later, their clothing being gray in the first centuries of their history.
